In a bitter twist of fate, the Japanese may indeed have been contributing to scientific research as they devoured illegal whale meat. For over 20 years, despite the International Whaling Commission, Japan has claimed to be doing scientific research as it harvested minke whales for food.

RPV Temperature at 74.9 degrees C (highest since this whole tragi/comedy began) and cooling water increased to 14.5 tons/hour.

TEPCO increased the volume of water being injected into Unit 2 by 35% in the early hours of February 7.
This attempt to lower the temperature has stabilized it around 70 degrees C. But it has not lowered it significantly.
