As you will all remember, TEPCO’s plans for decontaminating the ever increasing amounts of radioactive water accumulating at Fukushima depend upon their ALPS decontamination system. Recently the first hot runs of this system commenced and now a report has been issued in Japanese only on Nov 29.

Two more articles of interest this morning at Ex-SKF. The first discusses a leak at the pump connection which was moving water from one underground pond to another and makes the point of how contaminated this water is (a subject I didn’t broach in my email yesterday). The water is contaminated with strontium 90 and other beta wave radiation. This is very dangerous.

Never mind the "mays" and "maybes" in this article, the point is clear.

Since 44% of the water in the harbour is replaced every day with fresh seawater, a massive amount of leakage is going on to keep levels of caesium and strontium at a steady highs.
